The Ion Channel and Synaptic Neurobiology Laboratory (UNIS UMR_S 1072) directed by Dominique Debanne was created in January 2012. The lab is in part a continuation of the Ion Channel Neurobiology Unit (UMR 464 and UMR_S641) directed by Michael Seagar from 1997 to 2011, which in turn was derived from INSERM laboratories (CJF9011 and U374) directed by Francois Couraud from 1990 to 1996.
Our laboratory has always focused on neuronal signaling and understanding the role of ion channels in the nervous system, using a multidisciplinary approach (pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, cell biology). In spite of changes in direction and the evolution of the groups that make up the laboratory, we have been able to conserve a wide range of approaches which is today, more than ever, an obvious necessity for maintaining a competitive level of reasearch in Neuroscience.
